UM Avaya IX Workplace

Overview

Avaya IX Workplace is a software application (softphone) that runs on your computer and/or mobile devices that gives you full access to your university phone and its features. The software application is a great way to take your phone with you as you travel around campus or work from an off-campus location. When using IX Workplace on a Wi-Fi or cellular network, you could experience degraded audio depending on proximity and number of other users sharing the network. Some types of network devices, such as firewalls, could impact usability of the Softphone service.

Softphone service is available to University employees that have an active olemiss.edu email address. The service is not available to students or student workers and is not available as a shared service assigned to a department.

Softphone service is free for employees that have an IP desk telephone. For all other employees a virtual number will be created and a monthly digital telephone service charge will be billed to the department (cost varies by building, please contact Telecommunications for digital phone service pricing).

There will be a one-time programming charge of $35 for new softphone service activation.
